National Trust Event

Looking at Architecture with the National Trust Women’s Committee Turramurra Day
Tuesday 8 September 2009.

The construction of the North Shore Railway Line in the 1890s opened the way for families to move from crowded inner suburbs to the healthy environment of the semi-rural Upper North Shore.Within walking distance of the station, large blocks lining the high land of Ku-ring-gai Avenue and Boomerang Street were quickly taken up for architect designed houses in the light and airy, decorative style evolving at the beginning of the 20th century.
Nowadays subdivision is making room for houses of today to fit between their older neighbours.
